Physical Education is “education through physical activities.” It aims to develop students’ physical competence and knowledge of movement and safety and perform a wide range of activities associated with developing an active and healthy lifestyle.
Students are encouraged to participate in sports that they enjoy, allowing them to be physically active throughout their lives. The benefits of being physically fit are numerous. It can help improve your mood, reduce stress levels, keep you feeling young for longer, increase confidence, and improve your overall health.
Research studies have shown physical activity time after time that it helps prevent many diseases such as heart disease, diabetes type 2, osteoporosis (a condition where bones become fragile), depression, etc.)
Following are some types of exercises that are included in physical education classes.
Aerobic Exercises
Aerobic exercise is any type of cardiovascular endurance exercise that allows one’s heart and lungs to work together, providing oxygen for their body during sustained workloads. Jogging, cycling, or swimming are all examples of aerobic exercises.
Muscle Strengthening Exercises
Muscle-strengthening exercises enhance muscular strength, which is the amount of force a muscle can produce. Exercises include bench presses, curls for your biceps, weight lifting, and cycling.
Muscular Endurance Exercises
Various activities are performed in PE classes that enhance muscular endurance. Muscular endurance is the ability of one’s muscles to perform continuously without fatigue. Exercises like plank, squats, pushups, and situps enhance the muscle endurance of the students.
Flexibility Exercises
Flexibility is the ability of each joint to move through its available range. Flexible joints can perform functional movements such as lunging without spreading discomfort elsewhere in your body, while inflexible ones find it difficult. Exercises that are performed in PE classes would include various types of lunges, straddles, and stretches.
By doing the exercises as mentioned earlier daily, one can become more healthy and fit. To know more about education, visit Eleanor’s Books.
