Books have been a part of our lives from the very beginning. We read bedtime stories when we were kids and then we were introduced to various forms of fictional and non-fictional literature. All the books, in various forms, present different tales on various themes hence that’s why the list below contains books belonging to different genres.

Written by H. Rider Haggard, She: A History of Adventure is a tale of a father and son duo who travel to Africa in search of a lost civilization. Upon discovering the ancient land they meet the queen of the Ayesha, an immortal being who possesses extraordinary power, beauty, and cruelty.

Alice’s adventure begins when she falls down the rabbit hole and finds herself in the magical Wonderland, where Alice makes acquaintances with notable characters like Queen of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat, and the Mad Hatter. Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is quite popular among kids and has been adapted into movies and cartoon series as well.

The Hobbit is the work of J. R. R. Tolkein, the story revolves around a hobbit who goes by the name of Bilbo Baggins. The readers go along on a journey with Bilbo when he is approached by Gandalf, during his adventures Bilbo has to face numerous challenges including raids and a dragon named Smaug. To this day The Hobbit has more than 100 million copies worldwide.

And Then There Were None is a famous mystery novel written by Agatha Christie and is considered one of the best mystery novels of all time. The story follows ten strangers and their misfortune with death when they’re invited to an island for a weekend. The novel has been adapted into a film and an HBO series.

The Sorcerer’s/Philosopher’s Stone is the very first book in the famous Harry Potter series, the book is written by J. K. Rowlings. The book introduces us to Harry and his friends at the wizarding school of Hogwarts. Lord Voldemort also makes an appearance in the first book which sets up the plot for the next 6 books. The book has been adapted into a motion picture and has sold more than 100 million copies.

The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is an example of the free minds that children possess as they ask constant questions, engage in the mysteries of the universe and the invisible. The book has been translated into more than 300 languages and adapted into a Netflix film as well.

The Lord of the Rings is the amazing work of J. R. R. Tolkein, it is set after the events of The Hobbit and follows Mr. Frodo and the Fellowship of the Ring, which includes Gandalf, Merry, Pippin, Sam, Gimli, Legolas, Boromir, and Strider. The book has sold over 150 million copies overall.

Written by Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities is set in Paris and London and follows the events which led up to the French revolution. The novel highlights the atrocities of the French aristocracy on the peasantry. The events of the revolution tangle with the lives of all the major characters of the novel.

Miguel de Cervantes wrote Don Quixote in 1612, the novel was written in Spanish and is a tale of chivalry and charisma displayed by Alonso Quijano. The novel was translated into English in 1784 and has sold well over 500 million copies worldwide. Don Quixote is often labeled as the first modern novel and is considered to be one of the greatest works ever written.
