Introduction to A PLACE TO START You ought to go on the web, that's the way to get Old Friends & New Faces visible. And so I went looking to see how other children's book sites were done. I found authors and illustrators, book dealers, books online, resources for teachers, award winners, chat boards, groups, and lots and lots of directories telling you where to find what. Most of these directories should really just be called Lists and usually prefixed by a few choice words, as they don't say that they are just a place to start, and don't lead you to the really good directories. So there is a need for a directory of directories. If you are looking for a list of award winning authors and illustrators try these, or you are thinking of becoming a writer try these bulletin boards or news groups or join a mailing list, maybe you just can't find that book and want a place to go, or you have been collecting children's books at yard sales and want to find out more about collecting, their worth, the authors, or you're ready to get rid of all those Oz books sitting in the bookcase at granny's, or maybe all you want is a good read so check out the reviews. This is not the end all, do all, directory of directories for sites
related to children's books. This is my selection of useful places on the net, with my own
particular slant. As this progresses my own
directories will be included instead of sending you six different ways, but to start with
this is just A PLACE TO START. |
